Michelle Swart trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, pointe, and clogging at New Albany Ballet and The Studio for Dance in Cincinnati, OH. She is currently finishing up her last year at Virginia Commonwealth University Majoring in Dance and Choreography. At the beginning of this school year, Swart returned from studying dance abroad at Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. While there, she performed in Brianna Kell’s work, The Wave Beneath Us. Apart from performance, she has been able to teach as a sort of “swing” in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and pointe from the ages of 5 all the way up to the adult classes. Choreographically, Michelle had one of her pieces chosen for the 2019 VCUDance NOW alongside professional pieces. She is currently has just finished a project for VCU’s 2019 Salon and is created a new work for VCU Dances’ 2019 Adjudication. In the Fall of 2018, for the VCU Musical Theatre Department’s production of Little Shop of Horrors, Michelle assisted in choreographing the musical alongside Kikau Alvaro. Currently, she is in production for MTD’s musical Spring Awakening. This will debut in the Spring of 2020. One final interesting fact about Michelle is that she backup danced for the artist EBEN while in Cincinnati. Now, Michelle is excited to join the Dance Kraze team and is excited to dance and learn with everyone!
